Itálica - Santiponce (Sevilla)

Was fuonded in 206 b.C. by general Publio Cornelio Escipión "the African". It was the cradle of two emperors  Trajano and Adriano, their citizens were very proudly about the patrician blood that flew by their veins. Although it never stood out by his mercantile or industrial activity, both emperors supportted it making the city which rests we can see today.
There were two cities in one: the Vetus Urbis, or original city, and the Nova Urbis, built by Adriano in the II century.

The amphitheatre is one of the bigger in the roman world, it has a capacity of 25.000 spectators. In the middle of the sand there is the pit of beasts that was covered by a wooden roof. The brick pillars that sustained the boarded floor are still preserved.
